STONE SKIMMING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP (September 2015)

Kestrel proudly supported this year's Stone Skimming World Championship, which was held on Easdale Island, situated 16 miles south of Oban, Argyll. Easdale Island is the smallest permanently inhabited island of the Inner Hebrides. An annual event, resurrected in 1997, the World Stone Skimming Championship now attracts over 300 participants and many spectators. The event takes place in a disused slate quarry, in beautiful Scottish surroundings. The aim is to make the stone skim for as far as possible, whilst remaining within the specified guidelines. Congratulations to the men's 2015 world champion Dougie Isaacs and the women's world champion Lucy Wood. Well done to all winners, runners-up and participants. Kestrel was more than happy to get involved, providing free stock for the event. We hope to be involved next year, and help to ensure this event remains a thriving success.

Kestrel lager is set to make its return to TV screens across the country for the first time in over 30 years. The iconic lager, made famous in TV ads starring Russ Abbot and Hugh Laurie in the 1980s, has been given a makeover for the modern day. The new ad campaign celebrates the brand's Scottish heritage and is on air from 16th June across Comedy Central and all major MTV channels.

The animated 30 second ad follows a golden kestrel rising from a Scottish loch, taking viewers on a journey from 'loch to lip' and mirrors that of the ingredients which go into Kestrel. Provenance and heritage lie at the heart of the brand's new positioning and the ad brings to life the lager's provenance and traceability credentials.

BRITISH BEER-MAKING THE KEY TO REVIVE FLAGGING UK KESTREL POPULATION (February 2014)

Following the release of initial research data by the RSPB team into the possible causes of the decline in UK kestrel populations, Nigel McNally, MD at Brookfield Drinks said: "Kestrel lager is passionate about our partnership with the RSPB in protecting the kestrel. We're heartened to know that the great British public can support the recovery of these beautiful creatures by buying British beer and lager made with British barley. At Kestrel we only use barley grown in Scotland to make our brew and I urge everyone in Britain to raise a British pint to help the kestrel's recovery."
