Kestrel proudly supported this year’s Stone Skimming World Championship, which was held on Easdale Island, situated 16 miles south of Oban, Argyll. Easdale Island is the smallest permanently inhabited island of the Inner Hebrides. An annual event, resurrected in 1997, the World Stone Skimming Championship now attracts over 300 participants and many spectators. The event takes place in a disused slate quarry, in beautiful Scottish surroundings. The aim is to make the stone skim for as far as possible, whilst remaining within the specified guidelines. Congratulations to the men’s 2015 world champion Dougie Isaacs and the women’s world champion Lucy Wood. Well done to all winners, runners-up and participants. Kestrel was more than happy to get involved, providing free stock for the event. We hope to be involved next year, and help to ensure this event remains a thriving success.
